The Georgia Mountains & Lakes REALTORS® Association has 2 annual memberships:
A REALTOR® is defined as an individual who holds an active real estate or appraiser's license. REALTORS® also hold membership with the Georgia Association of REALTORS® (GAR) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).
The annual renewal rate of $413 includes membership in all 3 organizations.
A Designated REALTOR® (DR) is defined as a Principal, Partner, Corporate Officer, or Branch Manager of a Real Estate firm. There is only one Designated REALTOR® per company, and he/she is responsible for paying dues for all licensed agents within the organization.
Note for DRs: Fees must also be paid per licensed agent within the company. Paying fees on agents within an office does not automatically qualify them for membership; each agent must complete an application and fulfill all necessary requirements.
An Affiliate is an individual who does not hold an active real estate license, but has interests in the real estate profession. An Affiliate membership is granted to the first person that joins from a company, therefore designating them as the main representative for this company. Affiliates also hold membership with the Georgia Association of REALTORS® (GAR).
The annual renewal rate of $258 includes membership both organizations.
In order to join the Association, you will need to pay the prorated amount of your membership fees and an application fee. GMLRA's fiscal cycle runs January 1 - December 31st.

Non-member licensees are unable to reap any Association benefits nor are able to use the REALTOR® marks in conjunction with their business. Per the dues membership requirements, the Designated REALTOR® is responsible for paying dues for all licensed agents within the organization including non-member licensees. If someone is under a non-member licensee status, this could be for a couple of reasons:
- They never submitted a membership application nor paid the application fee so they are under a non-member licensee status. The Association simply received a payment for their annual dues. They must simply submit a membership application and application fee to become an active REALTOR® member reaping full Board benefits.
- They did not complete their new member training requirements within the required time frame. They must reapply and repay the application fee only in order to rejoin. They will then be given another 9 months to complete the necessary training.
- They did not complete the biennial Code of Ethics training requirement within the required time frame. Once they have submitted proof of completion to email@example.com, they will be reinstated to a fully active REALTOR® status.
A REALTOR® Emeritus is any person who has held membership in the National Association as a REALTOR®, REALTOR-ASSOCIATE®, or a combination of both, for a cumulative period of 40 years in one or more Associations of REALTORS®, and has served on a local, state or national committee for at least one year is eligible for REALTOR® Emeritus status. Upon approval by the Board of Directors of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, no further payment of dues is necessary to the local, state or national Associations.
The dues waiver does not take effect until the following 'dues season'. For example, members approved as Emeritus at the NAR Mid-Year or Annual meetings in 2017 would have their dues waived starting in 2018. Upon approval, each REALTOR® Emeritus member will receive a congratulatory letter, certificate and 40-year REALTOR® Emeritus lapel pin.
If you believe that you fulfill the requirements to achieve REALTOR® Emeritus status as defined above and would like to have all future national, state & local dues waived, please download and submit the REALTOR® Emeritus application on the left.
If you have any questions regarding REALTOR® Emeritus status, you may contact Lindsey Murray, Membership Director.
*All applications must be submitted by March 15th & September 15th of each year.
All applications will then be reviewed for approval by the National Association of REALTORS® at the mid-year meeting or the Annual Conference.
